Communication part
The DATMO RVO kit system utilizes all possible means of communication between individual RVO switchboards and control station with system visualization.
For on-line operation:
- Radio
- Wi-Fi
- GPRS
- Ethernet (optical or metallic cable)
- GSM
The DATMO kit uses MR 400 modems from Racom in switchboards. The modems operate in the band of 430MHz and Racom guarantees connection of any point in the Czech Republic with another point in this band. The user who choses radio transmission can select whether he will create his own radio network with its own frequency or hire a band in an already existing Racom network. Connection of the control station to switchboards using radio modems is a variant suitable for large cities where the operator can also carry out other data transmission, not only from the street lighting system, in the created radio network. The advantage of the radio modem is the reporting of the delivery of sent data.

GSM modems can also be used for data transmission from street lighting system switchboards. Data are then transmitted as SMS, e-mail messages or as GPRS data messages. In this way a modified message can then be displayed in the control station of the operator, on a technician’s mobile phone or it can be transmitted by landline by Internet and sent as an e-mail message. The possibilities of deployment of GSM modems depend on the condition of the network and the quality of area coverage. It can differ from one operator to another.
